The second most important international cricket event after the Cricket World Cup is the ICC Champions Trophy, a One Day International (ODI) in which 50 overs are played per side between two national cricket teams and no team plays another more than once. Battling for the Champions Trophy are: Bangladesh, South Africa, West Indies, Kenya, New Zealand, India, Sri Lanka, England, Australia, South Africa. The event is held every two years.
The 2009 ICC Champions Trophy was originally scheduled to be held in Pakistan in 2008 but was rescheduled by the ICC due to security fears expressed by several participating countries to take place in South Africa from September 24 to October 5, 2009.
