The 2009 Air New Zealand Cup is the 33rd provincial rugby union competition and the and last Air New Zealand Cup and takes place from July 30 to November 7. Unlike previous seasons there will be no quarter-finals. Instead, the top four teams go straight to the semi-finals. The finalists will be determined by the Rugby Union Bonus Points System.
Participating teams include: Auckland, Bay of Plenty, Canterbury, Counties Manukau, Hawke's Bay, Manawatu, North Harbour, Northland, Otago, Southland, Taranaki, Tasman, Waikato, Wellington.
Defending champions are Canterbury.
