The Berliner Philharmoniker (Berlin Philharmonic) was founded in 1882 and is a democratic, self-governing orchestra with 128 world class musicians. It orchestra is located in the Philharmonie in Berlin, Germany, and was voted number three of the top European Orchestras after the Vienna Philharmonic and the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra.
On October 17, 2009, the Berlin Philharmonic present Bela Bartiko's Divertimento for string orchestra, Benjamin Britten's Violon Concerto, and Richard Strauss' Death and Transfiguration.
