The Berliner Philharmoniker (Berlin Philharmonic) was founded in 1882 and is a democratic, self-governing orchestra with 128 world class musicians. It orchestra is located in the Philharmonie in Berlin, Germany, and was voted number three of the top European Orchestras after the Vienna Philharmonic and the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra.
On January 23, 2009, the Berlin Philharmonic present Gyoergy Kurtag's Stele, Johannes Brahms' Violin Concerto, and Bela Bartok's Concerto for Orchestra.
