From December 7 to 19, 2009, global audiences can watch world leaders engage in a live debate at the 2009 UN Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen on the crucial topic of climate change.

The conference will be the largest international political conference ever held in Denmark with participants from 192 countries representing governments, the business community, and civil society. We anticipate approximately 15,000 participants.

The overall goal for the meeting is to establish an ambitious global climate agreement for the period from 2012 when the first commitment period under the Kyoto Protocol expires. The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) forms the basis of international climate cooperation. Representatives of the countries that that signed UNFCCC meet every year at special conferences of the parties (COP).
