The FIFA U-20 World Cup, formerly known as FIFA World Youth Championship, is the soccer world championship for male players under the age of 20. It is a bi-annual tournament organized by the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA).
Teams from 23 countries compete in the six confederations Youth Championships incl. AFC U-19 Championship, African Youth Championship, CONCACAF Under-20 Championship, South American Youth Championship, OFC Under 20 Qualifying Tournament, and UEFA European Under-19 Football Championship, to qualify for the FIFA U-20 World Cup.
Countries that have reached the finals include: Argentina, Brazil, Portugal, Spain, former USSR, Germany, former Yugoslavia, Nigeria, Ghana, Uruguay, Czech Republic, Japan, Mexico, Qatar.
The next FIFA U-20 World Cup takes place from September 24-October 16, 2009. Select games will be broadcast live online.
