The Glastonbury Festival is an annual concert held in Pilton, Somerset, England. It is known for contemporary music, but also features dance, comedy, theatre, circus, cabaret and other arts.
The festival was founded by Michael Eavis and first held on September 19, 1970. Attendance was 1,500, admission was £1 including free milk from the farm. Today, over 170,000 tickets are sold, admission is around £185.
Artists included: Muse, Shakira, Snoop Dogg, Stevie Wonder, Slash, Norah Jones, FLaming Lips, Pet Shop Boys, Phoenix, Kings of Leon, Jay Z, Amy Winehouse,Neil Diamond, John Mayer, The Who, The Killers, Arctic Monkeys, and others.
