PGA Tour
The PGA Tour organizes week-to-week events including The Players Championship, the FedEx Cup events, and the biennial Presidents Cup. The PGA Tour is not to be confused with the PGA of America which runs the PGA Championship, the Senior PGA Championship, the PGA Grand Slam of Golf, and the biennial Ryder Cup.
The FedEx Cup events take place from January through the end of August, the "regular season". For each event, players can earn points. The FedEx Cup events include the Sony Open, Bob Hope Classic, FBR Open, Buick Invitational, AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am, Northern Trust Open, The Honda Classic, Transitions Championship, Arnold Palmer Invitational, Shell Houston Open, Verizon Heritage,
Zurich Classic of New Orleans, Quail Hollow Championship, Valero Texas Open, HP Byron Nelson Championship, Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial, the Memorial Tournament, St. Jude Classic, Travelers Championship, AT&T National, John Deere Classic, RBC Canadian Open, Buick Open, Bridgestone Invitational.

The top 125 players of the regular season qualify for the playoffs in September. After the first playoff, The Barclays, the field is reduced and only the top 100 players play in the second playoff, the Deutsche Bank Championship. The third playoff is the BMW Championship (open to the 70 points leaders) and the last playoff is The Tour Championship, which is only open to the top 30 points leaders.
After the final playoff the season ends with the Fall Series from OCtober through November.
In addition to the PGA Tour events some of the elite players also participate in the majors, the four most prestigious annual tournaments in professional golf, which are organized by different organizations: the Masters Tournament, the U.S. Open Championship hosted by the USGA, The Open Championship (also known as the British Open) hosted by The R&A, and the PGA CHampionship hosted by the Professional Golfers' Association of America (PGA).
