The HGTV television show Design Star is a reality competition where a group of professional designers are presented each week with a different interior design challenge. The show has attracted a large audience since its beginning in 2006.

In Design Star, the designers are to budget and creatively design a space given to them by the show or special guests. Each week a designer will be eliminated until the winning design star is finally chosen. The judges of Design Star are Genevieve Gorder, Candice Olson, and Vern Yip. Clive Pearse is the host of the show.

The trials and tribulations of the designers are followed each challenge from introduction of the space to be decorated to the final critiques by the hard-hitting judges.
