Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles is the television adaptation of the popular Terminator franchise. The fictional timeline for the show is set between the second and third movies, while Sarah Connor is still alive.
The characters present in the series were Sarah Connor (Lena Heady) and John Connor (Thomas Dekker
) in the familiar roles transposed from the movie. They were the main protagonists of the series. A third person, a Terminator sent back to help protect them, was also added into the mix. Played by Summer Glau
, the robots name was Cameron. The character quickly became popular amongst fans.
A handful of famous actors and actresses appeared in Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, including Shirley Manson
(lead singer of The Band
Garbage) and Brian Austin Green
(of 90210 fame).
Driving the action from week to week were a series of Terminators and human Freedom Fighters
that had been sent back in time to wage war against each other. The Terminators were constantly attempting to at once protect the company that would eventually invent them while also trying to destroy the young John Connor before he could lead a successful rebellion in the future.
Episodes varied in formats but mainly involved the Connors attempting to fit into 'normal' society as they ran from law and the deadly Terminators. There were also regular scenes of Cameron learning how to be more human and a romance was hinted at between the female Terminator and John Connor.
Even though mainstream critics were largely positive about Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, it was unfortunately cancelled by Fox in May 2009 after only two seasons.
