The Twenty20 Champions League is an international cricket tournament founded in 2008 and first played in 2009. Participating are 12 teams from India, Australia, England, South Africa, Sri Lanka, New Zealand and West Indies, including:
The top 3 teams of the Indian Premier League
The semi final losers play-off for the third place in the Indian Premier League
The top 2 teams of the KFC Twenty20 Big Bash in Australia.
The top 2 teams of the Standard Bank Pro 20 Series in South Africa.
The top 2 teams of the Twenty20 Cup in England and Wales.
The top team of the State Twenty20 from New Zealand.
The top team of the Stanford 20/20 from West Indies.
The top team of the Inter-Provincial Twenty20 from Sri Lanka.
Tournament format: It will start with a round robin format, with 4 pools of 3 teams. The Top 2 teams from each pool will advance to the knockout stages. A total 19 matches will be played over a 16 day period.
