The UEFA European Football Championship (also known as the UEFA Euro) takes place every four years where the best European national teams take on one another for the highest trophy in Europe, second only to the FIFA World Cup. The UEFA Euro is administered by the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA).

The UEFA Euro takes place 2 years between the 4 years separating FIFA World Cups. A new country is selected for each championship as the host nation and the tournament takes place across the country at the various stadium. The host nation also automatically qualifies for the tournament. Other teams begin qualifying matches for the UEFA European Football Championship following the FIFA World Cup.
