BBC One and BBC Two Available Live Online

BBC One and BBC Two will be available to watch live online from 27 November, Jana Bennett, Director of BBC Vision announced.

The channels join BBC Three, BBC Four, CBBC, CBeebies and BBC News which are already simulcast. They can all be watched online via their channel sites on bbc.co.uk through a wide range of internet enabled devices. They can also be watched through BBC iPlayer.

Jana Bennett said: "The launch of BBC One and BBC Two online completes our commitment to make our portfolio of channels available to watch on the internet. "From 27 November licence fee payers will be able to watch BBC programmes, live, wherever they are in the UK on their computers, mobile phones and other portable devices. "Through iPlayer and series stacking, they'll have the option to catch up with them later."

Research by Ofcom [see Notes to Editors 1] reveals that UK consumers watching TV online has doubled in the last 12 months. In the United States, reports show around nearly 20% of households with internet access use it to watch television broadcasts either via channel sites or YouTube, double the number two years ago [see Notes to Editors 2].

Simon Nelson, Controller of BBC Vision Multiplatform and Portfolio, said: "Simulcasting BBC One and BBC Two is a huge advance in making our portfolio of multiplatform channels available to our audiences, and giving them the opportunity to discover the wealth of associated content the BBC is able to offer through our channel and programme sites."

ITV.com Goes Football Crazy

ITV has expanded its football website in preparation for its biggest ever season which includes live rights to the FA Cup, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Cup and England internationals.

The new site at itv.com/football will simulcast all matches broadcast on ITV1 and provide exclusive highlight packages of all the action making it the home of football video online.

In addition, ITV will also feature Premier and Football League highlights plus footage from the Italian, German and French League games as well as exclusive blogs, stats, games and forums.

FA Cup matches involving non-League clubs will be filmed and made available to a large audience thanks to a partnership between ITV Local, ITV.com and The Football Association.

ITV and FA camera crews will capture early round FA Cup action on camera from the first weekend of the competition when over 400 clubs begin their bid for glory.

The footage will feature in highlight packages made available on ITVLocal.com and ITV.com.

Clubs that aren't covered by an ITV Local camera will be given access to an exclusive area on ITV Local's Grassroots Sport website where they can upload their own club videos for all to see.

ITV has also commissioned an original entertainment series, The Gloryhunter, exclusively for the new website.

The series which launches today sees football fan Spencer Austin randomly select a UK club to follow until they lose, when he switches to the side of the victor.

All the time a team are on a winning streak he’ll be living in the town, travelling to games and meeting the fans. But when their luck deserts them, Spencer, who usually supports Spurs, will drop the team and bask in the glory of the winners.

Austin has selected his first club - Grimsby Town - and has already started acquainting himself with the team and its fans ahead of their first game against Rochdale on August 9th. Local fans can suggest places in Grimsby for Spencer to visit by logging on to itv.com/football.

Three minute webisodes following The Gloryhunter’s exploits will feature on the site, allowing fans to track his progress and share the high of always supporting the winning team.

Elsewhere on the site, fans will have access to blogs by ITV football presenters, an exclusive blog by Hull striker Dean Windass, a round up of the best football writing from around the Web, video diaries by players, articles by football insiders, a forum and an interactive game that lets fans to pit their wits against Andy Townsend. The site will also feature highlights of classic Premier League games.

Head of Content at ITV.com, Marc Webber, said: “ITV.com will have a staggering amount of football related video content all in one place. By showing the early round FA Cup games and allowing anyone to upload video from matches all over the country we will also be the home of the long tail of football. It promises to be an action packed season on ITV.com.”

The NetJets Showdown, produced by StarGames in association with The Marquis Jet Card and Men's Vogue magazine, will take place at Madison Square Garden in New York City on March 10, 2008.

Australian Open - 480+ Hours Live on Broadband

The tennis season will begin with unprecedented coverage of the Australian Open, the first Grand Slam of the year: 137 hours of coverage on ESPN2, as well as more than 480 hours - all live, with users choosing between action on six courts - on broadband ESPN360.com. Play will begin on ESPN2 and ESPN360.com on Sunday, Jan. 13 at 7 p.m. ET and will continue through the women's and men's finals Friday, Jan. 25, and Sunday, Jan. 27, respectively. ESPN has televised the Australian Open since 1984; last year's women's final drew ESPN2's best tennis rating ever, a 1.9 for Serena Williams' victory over Maria Sharapova.
